  rope climbing
Posted by: Alexander34 - 08-08-2023, 03:16 PM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (5)

Hello again. I need to make it so that the rope, when playing on the player animation of climbing on it, realistically behaved with respect to the points of contact. Clearly on the attached screenshot. How can I implement this with your Asset in the least costly and simplest way?
I can only think of creating a particle group on the fly, but that would be very costly

End of the rope! Match position
Posted by: Renman3000 - 07-08-2023, 03:12 PM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (11)

Hi there,
I have a rope.

Is there a way to child a transform, renderer to the rope and specifuiclally a particle attachment so that this transform rednerer is always, whereever the selected particle attachment is, relative to its rope?

Basically, I would like a spehre to always be at the end of the rope.

Thanks

How to enhance the spring power of rod?
Posted by: cmanlh - 05-08-2023, 12:07 PM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (2)

The case is as below:

On the wall, there is a rod. The player can put some heavy thing on it. When the thing is too heavy, the rod will break or slip down from the rod, which deforms too much. And then the player fails.

As the picture showed, I almost done it. But there is a problem. I can't find a better way to make the rod handle heavy things. Increasing the iterations of Bend/Twist Constraints or substeps of updater can increase the power of rod, but it will cause performance issue.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions, Thanks.

By the way, I am using Obi rope 6.5.4.

Pregunta Make the cloth thicker?
Posted by: richardmuthwill - 02-08-2023, 03:54 PM - Forum: Obi Cloth - Replies (2)

I'm working on a project where we need to be able to drag a cloth and I obviously went for Obi.

I need the cloth to look like a thick duvet cover, more than a 1mm thick piece of cloth - any tips for how to do this?

Ideas so far:
- Shader on the 2D cloth to give it depth / make it look thicker
- 3D model and obi volume

Any other ideas or any idea how I could use any of the above ideas to acomplish this?

  [FIXED] Issue with NativeMultilevelGrid.cs
Posted by: richardmuthwill - 02-08-2023, 12:53 PM - Forum: Obi Cloth - No Replies

I was getting the error: error CS1061: 'UnsafeList<K>' does not contain a definition for 'length' for NativeMultilevelGrid.cs.

The fix was: changing the contents.length to contents.Length on line 74.

Leaving this here in case someone needs it!

  ObiRope Collision Penetration

I wanted to make a couple of loops around the pole, but when I moved the rope after one loop, the rope went straight through the pole, and it's more likely to happen when the rope is pulled longer, please help me to avoid this problem.

Resetting rope end positions when attaching the rope
Posted by: Alexander34 - 01-08-2023, 02:23 PM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (5)

Hello again, after studying the documentation I realized that when I change the target in ObiParticleAttachment the particle remain in the positions they were, however now the ParticleGroup is bound to a different transform.

This causes problems as I need to attach the end of the rope to a clearly marked location, instead it only binds to attachment position without resetting its own.

  Whip like Tentacles but rubbery.
Posted by: idmah - 31-07-2023, 07:01 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hi All.

Looking for ideas on how to approach making a rubbery tentacle/octopus arms that will have whip stretchy like action to grab things.

When you walk I'd like it to dangle and bounce like its made of rubber (maybe use Obi-Softbody) and when it attacks/ whip / swipe like action.
behaving most like a whip.  Is this even possible / practical with procedural animation. Or should I just animate it in blender?

I already own Obi-Rope but getting the impression it won't behave like I want it to. Ie. Not the right approach.

Thank for any Ideas!
