Object moving at runtime when Softbody Skinner is applied
Posted by: DeliciousOrange - 17-04-2020, 12:06 PM - Forum: Obi Softbody - Replies (1)

Hello, I recently purchased Obi Softbody thanks to the recent asset store sale. I've been having a lot of fun using them, but have encountered a bizarre error when attempting to apply Softbody in more elaborate ways.

For instance on this character I thought to use Softbody to simulate their tail behavior. However after applying the Softbody Skinner the tail suddenly moved as if it was rotated 90° around the character's root transform. No part of the tail object or the tail's parent objects are rotated and even when inspecting the tail and its parents their transforms have not been changed, however the tail itself clearly has been. Even more frustratingly this effect can not be fixed by counter-rotating the tail object or its parents; as soon as the simulation starts the tail instantly moves to this new position regardless of the transform data of anything involved. The only way to move the tail is to change the transform data of the object tied to the Obi Solver/Fixed Updater components.

Even more bizarrely this effect does not apply to other parts of the character that Softbody has been applied to, even though all the Softbody components are using the same Solver/Fixed Updater.

Does anyone know what might be causing this, or how to fix this peculiar bug?

  Tutorial getting fluid rendering to work in URP
Posted by: Avandenberg - 16-04-2020, 05:14 PM - Forum: Obi Fluid - Replies (4)

Hey everyone,

I just purchased obi fluid and im having a little difficulty trying to get it to work right.
Initially the fluid rendering didnt work at all. I got it to work now, (I put a little tutorial at the bottom of my post for those also running into this issue, as its not documented anywhere). However, it looks off in VR still.

Made this post to ask a question but got a quick email reply from the customer service! But decided to post this part anyway as it might help someone Sonrisa

-------------Tutorial-------------
Get Fluid rending in URP (2019.3.9f1 tested):
- After creating the first blueprint, a forwardrenderer asset appeared in the asset folder (might have already been there but dont think so)
- Find the  ObiFluidRendererFeature.cs script, open it and comment out the first and the last line. Additionally change the namespace for the renderer from LWRP to Universal, new script looks something like this:
//#if UNITY_2019_2_OR_NEWER && SRP_LIGHTWEIGHT
using UnityEngine;
using System.Collections;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using UnityEngine.Rendering;
using UnityEngine.Rendering.Universal;
...
...
//#endif

- Now go to the forwardrenderer asset and click Add Render Feature ->Obi Fluid Render Feature
- Now go to your URPAsset (Assets/Settings/UniversalRP-HighQuality.asset for me), select it and in the inspector and add the forward renderer to the renderer list. (I set it as default not sure if thats needed)

Now fluids should render like normally.

  Questions About Fixing Particle Translation and Removing Pin Contraint in Runtime
Posted by: relevantname - 16-04-2020, 04:30 PM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (1)

Hi,

I have two questions;

- How to fix particle translation and orientation in runtime? (I want to fix a particle and than generate tethers in runtime)
- How to remove pin contraints in runtime?(I can add and clear pin contraints in runtime but cannor remove like the same way.)

Thanks in advance.

I need to create a system to build electric wiring in runtime  like in picture attached.
Is it possible with ObiHope?

  Making Non-Stretchy Rope
Posted by: relevantname - 15-04-2020, 07:40 PM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (10)

Hi,

This post which is posted on 2017 is exactly describes my problem. I tried most of the suggested combinations but my rope is still very rubbery. I wanted to ask, is there any new solutions to this problem since 2017?

http://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/forum...ead-6.html

The stiffness that I want to achieve is like grappling hook example, but without creating the rope every time.

Thanks in advance.

  [Question] Differences to Filo Cable Simulator
Posted by: spaceemotion - 15-04-2020, 02:11 PM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (3)

I've stumbled across your "Filo Cable Simulator" asset and it states that for more advanced stuff ObiRope should be used.

What's a bit confusing for me though, is that in Filo the cables are looking quite strong and rigid, while in ObiRope the demos let them look quite loose (regarding the demos with cogs and wheels).

Is there a setting in ObiRope that gives them a similar look?
Is Filo more performant than ObiRope?

Since ObiRope is now even cheaper than Filo, would you even suggest buying Filo instead?

Thanks in advance!

  [Question] Support with BoingKit
Posted by: spaceemotion - 15-04-2020, 12:59 PM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (3)

Hey,

I just got an email abut ObiRope being on sale and would love to use it for our project.
However, we also use Boing Kit, which is another asset that deals with physics (or rather, mesh deformations).

Can these assets be used independently or would there be incompatibilities?

We mainly use BoingKit for "spell attacks" (like impacts) that would move through the scene like a shockwave.
We could also provide "custom" support, if ObiRope supports runtime methods for external forces.

Thanks for any help in advance, cheers!

  Obi Rope Lenght Problem
Posted by: relevantname - 15-04-2020, 11:57 AM - Forum: Obi Rope - Replies (8)

Hi,

I can't increase my rope's lenght after certain point. Is there a restriction for that?

Thanks.

Edit: I tried to increase Pooled Particles, no luck.
