Bug / Crash Just bought obi. Unity shuts down during import

Hi,

According to the stack trace, it crashed on UnityEditor.GameViewoZoomSlider(). It tried to convert a double to a 64 bit integer, then crashed. Does not seem to have anything to do with Obi. Looks suspiciously similar to this Unity bug:

I don't think the problem is with unity because it tried it on my friend's mac, same unity version as mine, it is running smoothly on his PC.

I also tried with Unity 2018.3.4f1, worked well for some time but crashed again.

I just reformatted my PC and the problem still occurs. Here's my system specs

This fixed it for me kind of, I can open scenes, and create obi objects without crashing. But in the "Chains" scene it crashes I try to drag the chain around

Fact is I purchased your plugin and it's not working. It is also not random crashes, its specific to when I do specific things in obi. Hello, I am experiencing same problems... Crashed during fresh ObiRope import. When I open Unity (2018.3.2f1) and try to create ObiSolver (for example), Unity crashes again.

Could you please provide those .dlls again, as WeTransfer link seems to be dead.

Or, more preferably, fix it in the asset itself?

We already updated the asset to use SSE instead of AVX2 instructions in windows (as certain CPUs do not support AVX2), however the store hasn't published it yet. It's been twelve days since we did, we will contact the Asset Store staff this week to see what's taking so long.

In the meanwhile, just write to support(at)virtualmethodstudio.com or obi(at)virtualmethodstudio.com with your Invoice Number (you can find it in the pdf invoice) and we will give you a download link.

This new update solved all of my issues, imported just fine, haven't had a crash yet. Thank you so much!

the current version 4.0.1 doesn't work for me. get  the same issue as OP at first. no crash report, just shut down, for anything "rope" related...

I have a fresh scene, with the recent version of Unity (2018.3.0f2), imported obi rope, and tried out to load a sample scene or put Obi Rope features into my scene. Unity closes without any report, problem or what so ever. 

Did you already solved the issue, or is it about to be solved in 4.0.2? I hope it has to do with the current version and not my PC.

Hi there,

Some CPUs do not support AVX2 instructions, which we used in 4.0.1. We reverted to the more widely supported SSE in 4.0.2. Write to our support email (support(at)virtualmethodstudio.com) and I'll send it to you.
