[newbie question] - Can't 'fix' particles ? Option is greyed out

Just following the very basic flag tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_conti...HaSVKzU8ks)

I can't 'fix' ? The option is greyed out, why ?

You cannot fix both position and orientation because cloth particles are not oriented. You can only use the "fix position" option. This is explained here:

Hi, 

I don't get it sorry. I followed your youtube tutorial and in the video you "can" fix it; so is the video wrong ? 
Everywhere else even in your page http://obi.virtualmethodstudio.com/tutor...iting.html "fixing" is enabled.

So ... how do I fix a particle ?

Hi,

That video is for a previous version. In that version, you could only fix particle positions, because Obi did not implement oriented particles yet. Now you can fix both particle positions and orientations , or only particle positions.

However, not all kinds particles have orientation information. In particular, cloth particles only have a position. So cloth only allows you to use the "fix position" button, which behaves in the same way as the old "fix" button.

Read the first few paragraphs of the particle editor manual page, there you'll find a small guide on how to fix cloth particles:
