Just keep in mind that, strictly speaking, having a 1000 kg object suspended from a 1000 kg rope behaves exactly the same as a 1 kg object suspended from a 1 kg rope. So by increasing rope's mass, you won't get the same behavior as you would with the original mass ratio and a lot of substeps to increase simulation quality.
The thing is sometimes you just need the behavior of a very heavy object suspended from a light cable/rope. This is what makes iterative solvers sweat.
But if you can get away with a heavy rope for your purposes, then no problem!
