I'm a bit unsure about your question... simply placing a collider on top of the object and moving it down wouldn't crush it?  Huh

Well, then simply place a collider on top and progressively move it down. There's not much else to it.

If you want the object to plastically deform (keep its shape after being crushed), increase its plastic yield, creep, and maximum deformation:
