Hello,

Do the force zones work with 2d fluids? It seems there is no effect on the particles when using either.

Force zones act by moving the atmosphere surrounding the fluid. You need to increase the material's atmospheric drag (at least make it non-zero) so that fluid particles interact with the atmosphere:
